Cellulite Removal: More About Invasive Techniques Posted By: Heather Martin

If you are looking for efficient ways to remove cellulite, you are probably asking yourself if all these invasive cellulite removal techniques can give you the long lasting results you are after. Let’s take a look at some of these methods, and let’s see if they really deliver on their promises.

Liposuction

When women hear the word “liposuction”, many of them think of removing cellulite. However, this is one of the most common mistakes people make, because liposuction is a fat removal method but doesn’t work for cellulite. What liposuction does is to remove under skin fat. This makes you thinner and better looking but does not have any impact on the visibility of cellulite. Cellulite is the inside skin fat deposit. It cannot be removed by liposuction. In fact, liposuction may even worsen the look of your cellulite, as it removes a ‘fat cushion’ from under your skin, which makes it more even looking. However, there is a way liposuction can help you to get rid of cellulite. It is our number two treatment: fat injections.

Fat Injections

This is when your own fat, obtained through liposuction, is being injected into the cellulite affected areas of your skin. Literally, your own fat combats your cellulite. This injected fat makes the skin more even and improves its look. The skin stretches up a bit and sort of puffs up to cover cellulite. However, this cellulite treatment cannot be viewed as permanent, because the injected fat cells may die and be consumed by the body. So, this lowers the effectiveness of fat injections for cellulite treatment.

Mesotherapy

This cellulite treatment is administered through multiple injections of a mix of vitamins, herbs and drugs. This mix is injected during mesotherapy sessions. To produce any visible cellulite reduction effect, one has to go through at least 10 of these sessions. There has not been done a lot of scientific research on the safety and efficacy of mesotherapy. Therefore, its cellulite removal effects are not proven. No one really knows how the injected mix is being dissolved or removed from the body and what kind of side effects it may cause. Patients who underwent mesotherapy report that it was effective to treat their condition. However, this therapy is pretty expensive. Mesotherapy cannot remove cellulite once and for all. To maintain its effects, repeated treatment is required.

Lower Body Lift

This is done by cutting out extra skin from the belly and back and pulling up the skin of the lower body part. This surgery does not treat cellulite, but it pulls up the skin, makes it tighter and thus covers up cellulite and lessens its visibility.

Subcision

This is the only therapy which produces long lasting results in treating cellulite. The cellulite removal is done by cutting the connective tissue strips which attach the skin to the muscles underneath it. These connective tissues pull the skin down and make the fat cells to pop up of the skin, producing the orange peel effect. Subcision is done with a sharp knife, moved underneath the skin. This cellulite treatment is the most intrusive and traumatic of all treatments. The skin takes a long time to heal up afterwards. This method is also used for removing acne scars, so it has been tested pretty well. However, this method cannot be applied on all areas of cellulite and its has other restrictions as to its application.

As you may see, there is no fast therapy for cellulite. Its treatment is complicated and one has to consider all the risks involved in threating this non medical condition. The Truth About Using Liposuction For Cellulite

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Women around the world loathe and dread the c-word: Cellulite. No matter your age, weight, or fitness level, if you’re a woman, chances are that you have experienced the frustration of cellulite for yourself.

Even men can fall victim to this painless but emotionally debilitating affliction.

Typically appearing on the hips and outer thigh area, cellulite is caused by pockets of fat that bulge through the fibers of the muscle, creating a dimpled or “cottage cheese” appearance. This can be very discouraging, especially when you work out regularly and eat a sensible diet.

In the battle against cellulite, many women turn to liposuction, assuming that removing fat is the simplest and most effective method to reduce cellulite. Unfortunately, liposuction does not always solve the problem, and in some cases can even worsen the appearance of cellulite.

The typical liposuction procedure is performed by making small incisions in the skin, inserting a hollow tube (called a cannula) under the skin, and then using the tube to remove fat. For areas such as the waist or knees, this is relatively simple and effective.

Removing fat from such cellulite-prone areas like the thighs, however, is a more complex issue. Body fat is stored in compartments known as lobes, which are supported by your body’s muscles.

As fat is added over time, those lobes become overly full, and bulge out in between muscle fibers, creating that dreaded dimply look. This is especially evident in the thigh area for most women. Removing this fat via standard liposuction can leave the skin loose and saggy, which will not improve appearance and may actually make the area look worse.

Doctors and plastic surgeons have long been aware of the failure of traditional liposuction to deliver results in treating cellulite, and have experimented with different techniques and variations in an attempt to find an effective treatment. A recent breakthrough in the field, known as Endermologie, combines liposuction technology with massage techniques to treat cellulite.

Requiring no surgery, it utilizes suction and rollers that deliver an intense massage to fat itself, smoothing out the lumps and bumps while stimulating blood flow to improve appearance.

Over the course of therapy, the bulging pockets of fat are gradually leveled to create a smoother, more even appearance. While effective in the short-term, it is not a permanent solution to cellulite. It does, however, deliver better results than traditional liposuction, with none of the surgical risks or side effects.

If you are one of the millions who suffer from cellulite, massage therapies are a better choice than liposuction. These non-invasive techniques not only improve the appearance of cellulite, but they require no anesthetic and cause no harmful side effects. Talk to your physician about using these therapies to treat your cellulite issues, because you deserve to be free from the frustration of cellulite!
